Get it right. Move faster. Avoid unnecessary costs.
What is an HS Tariff Code?
Harmonised System (HS) codes are the global standard for classifying goods in international shipping.
- Duties and taxes payable
- Import restrictions
- Customs clearance requirements
They determine how your shipment moves through customs.
Do You Need One?
Yes. Every international shipment requires a correct HS code.
- Speeds up customs clearance
- Reduces delays
- Prevents unexpected charges
No code, no clarity — and that’s where shipments get stuck.
How to Find Your HS Code
Use an online HS code lookup tool and enter a clear, detailed description of your goods. The more precise you are, the more accurate your result.
What Does an HS Code Look Like?
HS codes are six digits globally, with some countries adding extra digits for further classification. Such as the US, Germany and Japan.
- Laptops — 8471.30
- Mobile Phones — 8517.12
- Books — 4901.99
Important: Codes Alone Aren’t Enough
An HS code must be supported by a complete and accurate goods description on your commercial invoice.
- What the item is
- What it’s made from
- What it’s used for
Ready to Ship?
If you’ve got your HS code, you’re ready add it to your commercial invoce.
